hey guys my stupid heater for my 55 gallon fry growout tank just like exploded and killed one of my fry's :irked:..
but then again im lucky it only killed one instead of the whole tank..
well my question is.. are there any chemicals or anything that i should worry about from the heater breaking into pieces in my tank water?
should i do a water change or do i just have nothing to worry about?
thanks in advanced

I don't know about chemicals, but when in doubt-do a water change. Stealth heaters are rigid black plastic and don't explode. That really sucks and I'm sorry it happened to you.

a water change cant hurt... but i dont think there is anything toxic in them really... ive never lose a fish to a shattered heater...

yeah the only reason my fry died was cause i guess the heater when it broke was still very hot and it just stuck onto the fry and well... fried the fry, lol the fry was literally like fused together with the heater.. it was pretty sad *****.. o_0

Yeah a shattered heater killed my lima, needlenose, and a few others.. Get a stealth as a replacement.

the don't shatter, but they do stop working for no apparent reason. I have officially turned my back on stealth heaters.

Really? Have you experienced this with multiple stealths or just one? All mine have been working awesome.

Mine are all under two years old also.

I would say that I have a total of at least 15 of these heaters. 5 or 6 of which has just up and quit. Mostly the new ones. Seems they quit right after the whole 90 day return thing. I will be using different heaters from now on.
If they are working, then they are great. But you get no warning when they are not working either. I am going to try out the titanium 1000W heaters next.
