Well, its time for me to start thinking about heaters.
I moved from Texas to MO, and winter is comming in a few months. and well never needed them before for my Ray tanks, so want advice....

What I have
All tanks are not on sump pumps.. I use Fluval Filters for everything I have.

250gal tank, two Montro (love to swim around)
150gal tank, two tea cups 4 yrs old
350 gal tank, two Motoro rays
150gal tank, two teacup 6 month old

Give me some ideas as to what is best for Rays.
My fish tanks are one thing (I have those already), but my rays are another.... Dont want them to burn or something... so let me know what is best, (brand and style if you have it)

Also looking into UV Sterilizer Submersible types. Since I dont use sumps, need something Submersible.. but not alot of need for it. My tanks stay clean and freq water changes and levels are good. Just looking into the idea...

good idea. I looked at heater guards, but never thought about pvc..
thanks

I have a sump but I use a Hydor inline heater on my backup external filter, it sits in the return of the external in the cabinet.

I have heard of a couple failing after time so I use mine as a backup. No probs yet.

You could run an external uv filter, just put it between the canister filter and the return.

Inline heater or the pvc pipe trick would be best for your heater option.

You may want to consider adding a sump though. Just get a rubbermaid, some hose, and a cheap pump and you're set. Use it as a backup to your canisters.

yes you can run inline uv lights very easy to set up on your cannisters. you can also run in line heaters on your cannisters easy also.

but one other thing if you dont want to make guards is to use rena smart heaters. these heaters are hollow on the inside and mite hook rite up to your cannisters as their intakes. these heat on the inside and wont burn the rays. my angels even laid eggs right on the heaters if that tells you anything.

if you have any questions about them let me know and i will try to answer as they are what i use.
