Ive got a heater in one of my overflows, the heater is set at 82*F. theres no way i can change around the placement of the heater without it touching my durso overflow. Should I be worried about the heater getting to hot and possibly melting the pvc?

appreciate any information on this, thank you.

I was alway8s told not to have the heater touch any decoration or the floor/gravel..........I guess this goes for the acrylic in your overflow box.........I owuld rather put the heater in the sump........I personally like showing off heaters in the main tank.......It shows what "corporate sponsors" have going on inside the fishroom........

Theres no room in the sump :D. 40gallons of filter pads and bioballs. I'd put it in the tank, i just like having it hidden. I should probably look up the melting point of pvc and acrylic, and the temperature of the actual heat being put off by the heater.

any other oppinions on this?

melting point of pvc is 212*F +. ( 100*C )
if a heater is set at 82 - 83* I'd immagine its desighned to turn off when that temperature is reached, but actually is putting off more heat than what its set at ( 82 being the case.) correct?

so I guess my question is, with the melting point of pvc being around 212*F would a heater ( desighned for 100+ gallons ) get hot enough to melt pvc, if touching it.
