Alright So currently since its so warm outside here in NJ I have not needed to put a heater into my tank. I didnt have a spare one until Now. So I found this Old (semi New) heater in my basement. And it works! but for some reason the size seems a little misleading. This is the Heater - Acura 1000 50 watts.
In the tank i want to put it in is a 20 gallon tank.
I have 2 Bichirs (1 albino 1 gray), 1 black ghost knife, and 3 blood parrots(not full red, more wild colored) currently living in the tank.
Now before you guys get your panties into a knot, This is only temporary until the 75 gallon is set up (in about 1-2 months) I want them to grow a little before i put them in the 75 cause i have this 20 inch Arowana that will join them as well. the biggest of these guys in total is like lol probably 5-6 inches.
Now! back to the question. Will the heater be too large? or possibly not meant for this tank? Because the average temperature for all of these fish (excluding arowana) is about 72-74. And right now it has no heater so its at like less. I want to know if its ok to put the heater in! please help!

It should be fine, that's over 2 watts per gallon which is sufficient, u should always have a heater to keep temp stable, just cuz ur house stays 72-74 in the day doesn't mean the same for the night, my house drops 5 degrees at night therefore without a heater my tank temp would fluctuate more then 5-6 degrees per day and that is not healthy for fish. They need a 24/7 stable temp to avoid stress.
