i have had my heater plugged in for about 4 hours now and i cannot tell a diff in temp and my thermometer says its the same it was 4hr ago.
is it working? or does it take more time?
its a 100w in a 30g

is the lil orange light on?
can you see heat waves coming off of it?

yes and yes.
haha i thought the waves were like chemicals but then i wsa like...noooooooo...... it cant be.

how big is the heater, and how big is the tank? If you wrap your hand around the heater, can you feel heat.

Check the settings on the heater. Depending on what type of heater and all, the factory settings might have it turned down really low. So it might already be at the temp its set too, so it only comes on to warm that water back up again.

Circulation in the tank will help bunches also. Otherwise it will take much longer to heat the tank because most of it will be going straight up and out the tank.

Water is super conductive. It takes A LONG time for water to heat up, and just as long for it to cool down. Just be patient. I'm assuming this is a new tank, so hopefully there are no fish in there. If it hasn't done the job by morning, then you have reason to be concerned.

no there are no fish, the water is cycling overnight with a used filter and the water is warming up. i just had to turn the dial up cus IT WAS set low. the fish are gunna love this new tank! thanks alot guys.

Hope there's a source of Ammonia in there otherwise you're just starving the bacteria and it will not survive.
