Just wondering, if i got a usual 30 dollar heater, or 5 of them... could I out them in my filter and keep my 1500 gallon pond heated during the winter? If I slowed the rate to 200 gph, which it already is, and runs fine because of my flitering design and amount of plants, could I keep the temps at around 65 deg? It takes water from the bottom of the pond which is 3 feet deep. The water temps can get to the 30's out here and it gets really snowy. The pond is 11.5x7x2-3ft deep at the deepest spot. The soil is mostly clay, like you can mold things with it, and one 11.5 foot side is on the concrete foundation of my garage because I dug right down it, There is a shallow spot that warms up really fast and is in the direction of the current. What temp do you think this would make it and would it work?

You would need a lot more than 5. Isn't pond stuff a lot cheaper than aquarium equipment?

No way to heat it. It would cost thousands of dollars per month to heat it even a little bit, and it would need to be enclosed somehow. Just stick to fish that can take the temps where you are.

EDIT: Wow you wanted to put tropical fish in it? That doesn't even make sense to think that. And 65 wouldn't even cut it for any tropical fish I know of.

you've already got a few threads about heaters on other forums, mightaswell listen to what they are telling you on the other ones instead of starting 5 more
