I know that any sign of condensation inside your submersible heater is supposed to result in instant removal, HOWEVER, I honestly cannot think of a submersible heater I've ever had that didn't achieve some level of condensation inside!

Am I just the victim of an incredible series of bad buys? ;-)

Condensation is cause by a sudden temperature change in the air inside the heater. How I prevent it is to put the heater in the tank unplugged for about an hour before plugging it. This will equalize the temperature inside of the heater slowly. This will prevent that problem 99% percent of the time. It may happen if you do a water change and allow the exposed part of the heater to cool and the heater cuts on. If it is totally underwater while doing a water change, it shouldn't happen most of the time.

I never expose them to air when doing WC, and what's strange is that the condensation doesn't develop until at least a month or more down the line in operation. Makes me a wee bit nervous!
