So I went away for 3 days for my birthday this week. Left the fish tank pretty much the way it was. Noticed the water felt colder than usual so I bumped up the heater a bit and left after that. Came home on my birthday to find both my Columbian tetras dead one stuck to each filter intake. No clue how long they were dead, but it must have been a while since the water turned cloudy. Anyway I went to fish them out with a net and I grazed the water. It was extremely hot. I checked the thermometer and it said 96!!!! I nearly crapped myself. I learned that Geo. Tapajos, Super Red Severums, Green Phantom Plecos and Vampire Plecos can withstand waters at 96 degrees, but apparently Columbian Tetras can not... Lesson learned- pay attention to the heater!
