Just read some posts about heaters exploding, causing fires and busting the aquarium up...

Was wondering if my heater may be about to do this.. I do not know the brand or make right off the top of the head, im going home soon so i'll find out then.

When it heats the water, the light indicating it is on flickers back and forth, its not a solid light.. is that natural? Or is something about to happen? It never heats mywater more than 85f, so im not sure if it is about to bust or not..

I can get a pic of the heater and name/brand when i get home...

Anyone had any problems with something like this?

The light switching on/off is normal for most heaters, just telling you if its working to increase the water temperature or not. Some heaters however have lights to indicate a stable or incorrect temperature. Just make 100% the heater isn't on when it is out of the aquarium, or if your doing a water change and the water goes below the heater. I've done it tons of times accidently, have gotten shocked a couple times from a cracked heater but havent cracked glass or set anything on fire. Just make sure you obey the instructions (drip loop!), keep it underwater when on, and you'll be OK. And dont skimp and buy a cheap heater either!
