Heaters

I keep smoking the titanium heaters with controller. No idea why. The 800 watt heater didnt last a month and the 500 watters i was going throught to quick also.(quick enough to send back and get replacements) I need a bullet proof heater with controller. 500 or 800 or somewhere in between.

How big is the tank. from what I understand, if you undersize the heaters to the tank, they can burn out very quickly. I guess it overworks them without the proper cool-down time.

I'd agree, I always ran two heaters. The rule of thumb is 3 watts per gallon. Any less and you over tax the heaters. Also make sure there are no drafts in the tanks vicinity. That will reap havoc with water temps.
