I am getting one (possibly two) new 5ft 120G tanks. I have two new Stealth Pro 250W heaters and one Sera 200W heater. I am trying to figure out the best heater or heater combination for my tanks. I like to keep them around 80F, and keep my house at about 68F. What would be the best configuration for my tanks? Can I use any of the heaters I own, or would the ideal be something different?

Thanks!

2-3 watts of heater for every gallon of tank is pretty much a standard to follow.

You could heat the tank with far less wattage. But it will cause the small heater to run alot more ,and use more electricity as well as severly shorten the heaters life.

And you could heat the tank with 6 1000watt heater and have no problems. But the cost of doing so may be more than the tank.

2-3 watts per gallon seems to be the balance point between the extremes
