heating a 150g

if that was better then it is telling me to get a 150w for my 120 gallon to make up for a 15 degree difference. don't sound right to me seeing my 300w heater is almost constantlly on and the site i listed says 383w minimum which is about right.

I dont know about either calculator or the math involved here, but from experience I could not come close to heating my 110 with just a 150w. Maybe I just never had the right heater as I do use cheap ones. I actually use two 200w, but when I had one of them stop working the tank temp dropped (that how I noticed one stopped working). Temp in my house is usually about 12 degree difference from tank.

I always have an extra hundred watts. My 55 has a 250 stealth. That way if I have to treat ich it can hold it at 85 for as long as needed with minimal wear.

usually u need 3w/g so a 100 gallon would be fine with a 300 watt, i use a 300 watt ETH on my 120 gallon works great. if i were u i would get 2 200 watt submersibles and keep them both on opposite ends of the tank. its also nice to have 2 heater just incase...

I have 400 watts in my 180, I keep it at 76.5, but have had it at 78 before.

I have two 250 watt Eheim heaters in my 150 gallon tank. One at each end. It keeps the tank at 79 degrees without them being on constantly. If I wanted it up around 86 I can't imagine it being a problem.

I like having two because you never know when one is going to die on you or, if you're like me, your Pacu is going to make a dash across the tank and destroy a heater.

And really, if you only have one heater in a 150 gallon tank, I can't imagine that thing is going to be heated too evenly.
