Looking to heat up a 36x18x24 enclosure so it's approx 90 on one end, 75 on the other, but doesn't drop below 75 degrees at any point.

I'm looking into heat pads for under the tank (not sure how to attach them to glass?) and possibly ceramic heating bulbs for the hot spots, and of course a basking spot light.

I'm sure I can handle getting the hot bits hot, but ambient temperature is my main concern. Used to at least semi-wet tanks where the water temp would affect atmosphere so not using a temperature adjustable aquarium heater will be new to me.

Was looking at the exoterra 25w 11x17'' heat pad.

As always, thanks for all the advice.

Anybody? Figured it'd be a pretty basic question but I haven't really successfully googled.

maybe a radiant heat emitter? if you are going for ambient temps, a heat mat doesnt do much.

A heat pad can do a great job of heating an area but not much when it comes to air temp. Ceramic Heat emiters are great for heating up air and a localized spot. A combination of both might be required to accomplish what you are trying to do. The only thing I don't like about heat lamps is they dry out the enclosure, all depends on what species you are keeping I guess.

On a side note, I never stick heat pads to anyting. What I do is remove the protective film, sprinkle some powder onto the sticky parts and rub that in. It makes the pad no longer sticky. Then, I simply tape the edges of the pad onto the aquarium. This way if you need to move the pad at some point in time, it is removable :)

Heat pads always worked for me they have a sticky side that you attach to the glass underneath.and a small heat lamp will keep your ambient temperature ..
What the enclosure for lizard or snakes.
