Hell everyone. I'm somewhat new to the large aquarium scene and i need some help. I'm thinking about building a 1000 gallon outdoor pond but i have a few dilemmas. First off is the water temperature. I'll need to keep it in the mid 70's, even when it's around zero degrees outside. I'm looking for some insight on how to keep the water that warm all year. I'm also wondering if it would be better to dig into the ground or build up off the ground. Which would help keep the temp right and the cost of building down? Any more input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

you might want to rethink this build, if you are talking about keeping the build cost down, it is most likely going to be really expensive to keep a pond in your area up to 70 degrees in the winter (not even sure how you would do this either). in ground ponds will keep insulated better than an above ground. i live in GA and my koi pond temp gets down below 40 in the winter not really sure the exact temp but the water is COLD. you would be better off just building a pond to keep koi or goldfish in and not worry about heating it.

I'm sure it will be expensive but i'm trying to find the least expensive but most effective way to do it. I'm planning on building a green house or something around it so that the temp stays up and animals stay out.
