Hey guys and gals, I'm thinking of building a pond for myself in the near future for some warm water fish(Pbass and Arrowanas). I was wondering if it would be possible to keep it heated to around 80* in the winter time here? We occasionally get freezing temps in the winter and quite often only gets up to around 60* or so outside. Thinking of about 1500 gallons to possibly up to 2000 gallons.

TIA,
JP

Ok, quick answer - YES. I am on my way out the door and have to run so I will get back to you tomorrow and give you all the details. If you are serious just be prepared to fork out the $$. I will write tomorrow..

Yeah it is possible but very expensive. My uncle has tropicals in his pond, but brings them in in the winter. But if the water starts to get to cold he has a heater he hooks up.

He has a 9000gl pond and he has an 11,000 watt hot tub heater that he bought for it. Heater cost like $400 and he says it is expensive to keep the water at 70 degrees.

Woundn't be as much for you, but still expensive.

how much would it run to get a household hot water heater and have the water cycle through it!

you cannot use a house water heater from what i hear. i would like to do the same and all i can come up with is eather a small pool heater or like 40 aquarium heaters lol. or just take em inside,
