about how much would it cost a month to heat an 180 gallon fish tank?

It all depends on your location/area. Is it constantly cold in your area? Where is the tank located, what is the normal ambient room temperature? Does the room temp fluctuate dramatically (ex: day-75F, night-65F)?
How much does your utility company charge per kWh? What size is the heater? Using 1 or 2 heaters?

These factors will determine your cost per month. For me in east coast, where its been not so cold lately until this past week, I figure around 15-20 bucks to heat my tanks, 3 of them running. All my tanks in the basement, but I insulated all my walls so it cuts down the cold coming in. Average tank temp for me are 79F-81F, room temp is usually hovering around 73F-76F.

:grinno:

If the temp in the room you will have the tank is around 70 degress, chances are you bill is hardly going to change for just heating. With lighting and filters and such, still not very much. With my 240, which I keep at 77 degrees and a 50 watt pump and lighting, depending on the month of my other expenses, I dont really know how much it is costing me, but is sure is not much at all.
