hey guys i am build a 9 but 6 by 36 inch pond and want to have my red tailed catfish live in it over the winter. it gets to about 25 over the winter and i need to find a way to heat my pond. i was thinking of taking like 2 layers of plastic and in the middle putting some type of insulation
what type of heater should i buy to maintain a temp of 70 thanks guys

Sounds like an expensive adventure! Lot of power needed to keep water at 70* when it's that cold outside.

hope this helps

hope this help

You'll likely be spending $500-1000 per month heating a pond in the winter if it gets that cold. Less if you cover it with some well-insulated stuff.

you would wanna look into Solar heaters. and then a no electrical heaters, that you can use at night

nope not even close to that:headbang2 told you everybody is aginst it $280mth christmas lites and all but thats my next diy project solar panels for it:grinno:

looks like my comment didnt make but like i said everbody was aginst it light bill was $280 with christmas light and all:headbang2its the one with the green rope lite its 3ft deep X 14long L shaped X 4ft wide its one foot in ground and 2ft above ground it was just covered with a shade tarp just till all the leave fell then i uncovered it

I would invest in a couple of hot tub covers for that pond. I would also look at heating the same way as hot tub are. A covered hot tub costs less than $100/month to keep it at 100 degrees. Using the same methods should keep you around the same price.
