was just wondering what kind of heater i should be looking for. i have a 240 gallon thats about to be set up

Get two heaters each with 150 watts. that way if one goes bad on you and doesn´t shut down you won´t cook your fish. A good brand is jäger

That it? man I am tripping then, I got two 150's in my 55G and was thinking about uping them to dual 200's. However my sump is in an unheated garage and will get to low teens in the winter.

It all depends on tank temperatures versus air temperatures. Acrylic also takes much less than glass. I'm keeping 500 gallons of water at 78° F with just one 250watt element. Room temperature is 76°F though.

Generally speaking (2) 150 watters for that tank should be plenty.

go with 2-3 250w marineland stealths. Your RTC will eventually break anything else.

:iagree: There's a very good chance of a monster like an RTC breaking you heater, Stealths are shatter proof. I'd get 2x200w Stealths, I always like to go a size up on the heaters so I can easily increase temps incase of infection.

I got 2-250w on my 150g and i recently just put them back in to fight ich with some free fish i just got. I put the stealths in at 75*F and in 12 hours it was up to 88*F. They are the best heaters ever
