Ok well I rescued Two Redfoot Tortoises earlier this week, and since I am basically clueless when it comes to Non-Aquatic reptiles, what do you guys use to keep them warm on a 24/7 basis. I have them in a large Exo Terra reptile Tank now and it gives them plenty of room to move around but the problem is that only the side with the MVB over it is warm, maintaining at around 95 degrees. The other half is only 79 degrees and that is only when the MVB is off. I checked on them last night and their Temp was only 69 degree and that is with my heat set to 75 degree. So I had to resort to keeping their light on through the night, obviously not something they liked.

So what are my options here fellow keepers?

Yes. Careful though. If you dont use a ceramic fixture, you'll probably burn your house down. Heat emitters get really hot to the touch and will melt cheap plastic fixtures.

also keep in mind these little guys will definitely need a much larger enclosure than that eventually and UVB coupled with proper diet is extremely important with them. Red foots seem to be far more prone to pyramiding and other shell deformities than other tortoses

Yeah definitely uvb. Forgot to mention that.

Also, sphagnum moss is great for putting in their hides. It holds moisture better then anything else Ive used and it naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungus, which is great for a redfoot enclosure that should always have a high humidity.

I got UVB covered with the MVB bulb, and yeah I know they get pretty big. Hopefully I am back home in LA by summer so they can get a nice outdoor cage. I am looking to get this for now to keep them in:

Its 60 inches long and 24 inches deep, so that should give them plenty of roaming space for now.

WOW thats pricey. And gotta weight a ton. Look into these too. Similar design, and very lightweight, so shipping shoudnt be as huge as that one. Also much cheaper. I mainly use them for snakes and my tegus, but they hold moisture pretty well, are easy to clean, and look ok too. The Model 432 and model 600 are actually bigger than the other one you pointed out too as well. I actually modified a model 600 to use a second dome light, but i then bought a model 622 witch allows the use of 2 dome lights.

Oh those are nice, how does the heating and lighting work on them.
