any advice, I planted a 45 gallon before, i am getting 10-12 south american cichlids, and im getting carnivores so they dont eat the plants, but any certain chemicals, or bulbs(light) ill need to grow these plants?

My strongest advice is to try a pike cichlid in there. You are gonna be killing yerself trying to find SA cichlids that wont mess with yer plants. Pikes wont touch them.

good options. You're going to need tough/robust plants for that setup. Both of those work great, and are accepting of lower-light conditions.
