The 10 Heckels I ordered from John (snookn21) came in today. They were listed as medium which John said was 3.5-4 inches. Well, it was a pleasant surprise when they came in at 5-5.5 inches!

Here are pics.

You've gotta take the crown for the prettiest tanks on the site Rob. 5 star additions as well. I can't wait to see them settled down with full bellies in a few weeks!
Thank you.

I hope they do ok as I'm keeping them in tap. Jay inspired me to get them after talking to him outside at the NJAS auction.

Wish me luck.

You don't need luck you got skills lol. But seriously they look good bro and I can't wait to see how they turn out for you.

Thank you. I dnot know that I deserve it though. To be honest, I'm terrified the heckels will have trouble adapting as I'm not inclined to do RO or spend endless time doing several water changes a week. I'm taking the plunge with the belief that the obsessed discus keeper's who go through a world of trouble for their fish are over kill. I don't intend to breed. Instead, I felt the heckels would make a great display to complement my pikes. In fact, all my fish are chosen to complement my pikes.

That being said, I desperately hope I can keep them healthy with my current maintenance regime. The floating dwarf water lettuce is a great nitrate remover so I'm hoping that it gives me the edge. IN fact, I Started Using them in all my tanks for just that purpose.

Amazing display! I think you'll be good with the Hecks, I believe it's more about proper ph and minimizing water parameter fluctuations more then anything else with them. So I don't think RO is necessary but you might have to adapt more small water changes instead of one large one to keep parameter fluctuations to a minimum. Then again maybe your right and you won't have to change anything. Good luck with it Rob again it's a beautiful display.

Thanks Kolt. I hope they do ok. Just came home to see if they would eat and they have no interest. One is dark and fins are clamped...
