Heckeli discus info

I need some information about those guys. And some pictures of a good specimen.

And could you tell me if this is a Heckeli?


In not, what kind of discus is it?

You'll find plenty of pics here to identify that fish. They look stressed and oddly anorexic in that pic.

I agree. Those fish do look odd. Healthy ones look like these.....

The fish above could be hybrids, perhaps with a brown?

They could be heckels or browns it's hard to tell from that one picture and the awkward angle of the fish. They also appear to be only about 3 inches in total length so they wouldn't have their full striations yet at that size. I'll need better pictures and more information such as how big are they, and how long have you had them? If they were recently imported it's normal for them to be thin, but with good feedings they will put on weight quickly.

Hi. I agree they could be browns as well as heckels.. In your research did you go to the forum SimplyDiscus?? They have a section on heckels that is very informative.. Good luck with your fish.. Sue

in my opinion that's not a heckel, heckels are welled color and well known.

they are greens crossed with browns,heckels would have a more round body and would have the dark bars at that size...
