I have 6 Heckeli and the first one I got from Rapps has two spots on each side where the other 5 I have from both Rapps and Fishfarm only have one spot on each side. So my question is, is this common or is the two spotter something unique? I am hopping they start breeding soon and I hope the two spotter is one of the pairs so I can see if the two spot carriers on.

Quite common with a lot of Eartheaters. One of my older A. heckelii had 3 spots on one side (a small array if you will), and I've currently got one with 2 spots on only its right flank.
off the topic - beautiful substrate and dw you have there! I wonder if your Geo. would be happier if you add some sand, not to totally redo the tank but just an area?
I have though about adding sand but neither the geo or the robertsoni seem to mind the gravel. They are both big enough now the gravels are not an issue with them.

.. I agree about the sand tho ... I think they all would love it.. I can spend hours watching my geos sift.. and they sift 24/7
. I imagine you could just do an area for them rather than the whole tank.. Pool filter sand is very cheap and clean and available at places like Ace Hardware.. It's a more natural thing for them and who knows might just "set the mood"..
