i was looking on aquabid and i just wanted to know if the fish in the first pic will end up looking like the fish in the second? s

I think it will. Keep in mind that Acarichthys (as with most of the geophagine) do get more colorful as they grow. The fish I buy from my LFS tend to look about 50% as good in their tanks as they do when I get them home and comfortable/stress free. The one in the pic above is just very small.

Not at all - now I miss them :(

I have a progress thread on these guys somewhere. Like Justin said they look a lot better as adults.

Unless you're lucky you need a 5'+ tank with 4+ specimens to spread aggression - or keep a single specimen, though I never recommend this.

ok thanks everybody, I see pix of adult Heckelii and I am always wow'd
and japes could I keep 6 in a 6'x18" with a medium gold severum and 6 silver dollars?
 
I would be careful of the silver dollars nipping off the threadfins in the near future.
