Was wondering what everyones idea on this would be... (dont even know if it would b possable)

I went to a breeders house that had a BUNCH of tanks.. and they all had sponge filters running off one air line.. could I do that with 2 55g? If so, what all would I need to get? How would I go about setting it up?

Is it more effective than an HOB filter?

If not, what is??

My HOB filter hasnt been working good sence I put the spnge pre-filter thingy on it.. and its making me nervous... I have sand as substrate and I didnt want it getting sucked up into the filter..

Im a newbie, so any advice would be NIFTY!!

I want to get these tanks set up right.. lol:confused:

with a 255g tank I'd go with a pair of canisters, breeders use sponge filters so that the fry don't get sucked up

Sponge filters work well. I run them in my smaller tanks. They are run on one large air pump. I know other members that do the same.

sorry. misunderstanding..

I have two 55 gallon tanks side by side.. and was trying to think of ways to cut down the plugs..

If I were to use sponge filters, could I also use the air-generator-thingy for the bubble rocks??

Get a air pump big enough...(research) a gang valve and you set. As far as the spnge pre-filter thingy..clean it in old tank water often. Everyday maybe. Just squeeze it out a couple times. All the types of filters work, you just need to find which one suits you. Sponges for fry...Huge Canisters or sumps for MONSTERS. Do the research and hang in there.
