Hehehe..How many sponge filters do I need?

3 model Vs will do it. They're rated for 100 gallons each. Now, an airpump big enough to power 3 of these under 24" of water will cost you.
If you're serious about using sponge filters, aquaticeco.com carries commercial-size sponge filters that'll handle a 400gal tank. They require 0.5cfm of air so, you'd have to use a blower to run them.

I just thought of something... I could actually make these sponge filters without spending that amount of cash. Thinking of using a PVC pipe, drill holes in it, use a diffuser inside it, and wrap it around with some pond sponge. Hmm...doable. Now all I need to get is an air pump that could handle it. That tank is 8' so there will be plenty of space. Seems like I need to move some stuff around in the garage to accomodate the space. I'ma make a stand or shelf to handle the 180 on top, and the 240 down below. OOOH I love brainstorms...or drizzle...
