Hello to everyone.

I'm new to forums and to fish keeping. I haven't kept any fish before at all. I am however, a very keen diver and have been a lover of sharks my whole life. I am interested in starting an aquarium to keep sharks eventually. As I have never kept anything before I am willing to start small and learn, learn, learn. I realise it will be a few years before I can and am able to keep the bigger fish.

My main reason for joining the forum was to get advice on where to start and the best fish to start my steep learning curve off with. I know you maybe thinking that people want to keep sharks as a status think and have no idea how hard it is. I understand it isn't going to be easy. Eventually I would like to build up to some sort of reef shark.

Any advice on where to start, knowing my ultimate goal would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Gal

Howdy! From one Padawan to another, welcome! ;)

As for where to start...get a salt tank and start there. Read every thread in general Salt and the sharks and rays section. All the ones in gen salt are the same - "I want to start a salt tank. What do I do?" so you're good to go there. Lol. ;) other than that, ask away!! It's what we're here for!

Another fellow diver! Nice to meet you Gal- I'm new to MFK, too.
Just got back from the Minneapolis Mall of America Shark Dive this weekend. Unfortunately, one of the Tiger Sand's who was ill took a turn for the worse and was expected not to make it and the other sharks started acting erratically, so they cancelled the dive. Maybe that was for the best! I DID get to do the Lake Dive and fed the Sturgeon and swam with some pretty big alligator gars! I'll bet we may be on the same MFK forums as I'm hoping to keep rays as time goes on. This is a fascinating hobby; you'll love it! Don
