I'd tell you about myself but I'm boring. Instead, I'd like to introduce Cheeto (sorry for the dirty glass, was actually just playing with a new camera before I cleaned the tank when I took it a few years ago).
Cheeto came into our family by accident. Sort of. I went into a pet store about 6-7 years ago, looking for snails because my daughter insisted we needed some. The store didn't have snails. But they did have an "African Butterfly Fish" which I knew nothing about other than it was very cool looking. Sales guy says, "No special requirements, easy to keep, eats flake food, just acclimate to the tank as usual." OK, works for me. (yea, go ahead, laugh...or not)
But Cheeto's NOT an African Butterfly Fish. I know. Cheeto was the only other fish in the tank with that fish. I didn't want him to be lonely so I bought the "leopard pleco" too. Hey, they lived together just fine there, they'll be cool together at my house, right? And they were. For a few years, until the butterfly fish was found on the floor under the aquarium stand one morning. Houdini escape from completely covered tank except for small areas around filter, heater, air hose.
Anyway, I never really thought about what Cheeto really is, beyond the coolest fish ever. He's got personality! But a friend came over for the first time today, saw Cheeto, played with him a bit and asked me what he is. I know he's not a pleco. So I started trying to ID him online. He looks like some pics I found in one of the groups here. Synodontis ? Synodontis eupterus?
