Good morning... (depending on where you are). My name is Shawn and I am from Dupont, WA just 40 mins. south of Seattle. GO SEAHAWKS!!! I am the resident Technical Director/Production Manager/Scenic Designer at the North Thurston Performing Arts Center in Lacey, WA. I am interested in many things, aquatic photography happens to be near the top of the list right now. I have been shooting my fish with a point and shoot Canon Digital Elph for the last eight or so months. I have recently purchased a Nikon D50 after much research and advice from fellow aquatic photographers. I am simply overwhelmed with the amount of custom settings and features though out of the box I have been taking some great pics. I have posted 2 already here in the gallery. I also love backpacking, moutainbiking, computers, sports, and the typical interests, movies, music, travel and the like. I am happy to be here and I hope to pick all of your brains as I journey down this new path with my new camera. Thanks for having me and I look forward to chatting with all of you.

Welcome Shawn . Look forward to seeing some pictures and you will get a lot of help here with that new camera .

Hi Shawn

Welcome to APF. Hope you have a long and happy journey into fish photography with the new camera. Put you images in a post in 'Photography 101' and constructive words and help will prevail. I had a look in your gallery and my first question would be how are you lighting the shot...onboard flash?

Cheers

Rich

As of right now I am lighting with the on board flash. It has been suggested to me to get a wireless sb800 from Nikon. Just how to employ this device is betond me. Funny you should mention the flash, because that has been one of my chief complaints with my photography. I usually have flash bursts in all my pics and the fish is always washed out. (In most cases).

I agree, and living here I have to listen to the contraversy every single waking minute. I agree it was a terribly officiated game, but at some point we need to move on. Doesn't look like that time is coming any time soon.
