Hello everyone,
Myself and my fiance have been monster fish keepers now for about a year and a half. I have two tanks set up at the moment one with two pairs of convict cichlids (to be bred and used as feeders) and one with two alligator gar and a bass. We originally started out with the gar (the fiance wanted piranha but I wouldn't pay for them). I had seen them on 'river monsters' and thought they were amazing. Now they tend to be very active and playful fish and there are several occasions I have been able to handle the fish with no issues. Though, they are at the limit for the tank they are currently residing and we are looking at either buying a larger custom tank or building a pond. In future I would like to add one or two Florida gar to the mix and even a couple of the hardier larger cichlids (Dovii, Jaguar, etc) to the mix as well.
I have also had several other types of monster fish (Peacock bass, Oscars, Piranha, Amazonian Redtail cats, and shovel nosed cats) with varied amounts of success.
I look forward to talking and learning from all of you.
