Hello everyone

Long time hobbyist both freshwater and reef, returning to the hobby after hiatus after having kids with a 300g freshwater tank. Still trying to figure out what I'm going to stock it with, but I'm leaning with some community medium-sized fish with personality, such as SA cichlids.

Welcome aboard

Acara are nice either regular or the Electric Blue.

That sounds great. SA & CA are my favorite. Are you looking to do an assorted peaceful tank? One thing I have lately relished is a group of the same type of fish. Your thoughts?

I have two little kids, which will make one type of fish a no go due to their impulse to have many different types. I took them on their first aquarium store trip and they are into colors and oddballs, so I will stick with a few peaceful goes, electric blues JD or avaras, and 1 carefully monitored vieja. Some folks are telling me that a chocolate/quetzal cichlid is a big puppy even though it’s CA? No matter, they will be surrounded by hordes of corys.

The kids got a kick selecting driftwood today and creating structures. Tank got heavier, my wallet got lighter.
