Hi,
I am a new member to this very interesting and enthusiastic forum! I keep mainly african cichlids as they are really my pride and joy. I specialize in the larger Haplochromines from Lake Malawi and I guess me getting referred to this site was an eventuallity. Marc Weiss pointed me here so I must send him a thanks...THANK YOU MARC!
My current monster fish project is to have a breeding group of Champsochromis caeruleus. I purchased 80 of them a few months back, sold most on my website and on aquabid and I am currently growing out 12 in my garden pond along with some Haps and Peacocks. When I got them, I believe in February, they were 2" and they are now anywhere from 3.5"-6" and growing. I will take them out of my garden pond at the end of this September when I hope to have a custom 190g waiting for them. I am in the process right now of acquiring the tank.
Here are some other monster fish that I currently keep (African cichlids):
Aristochromis christyi
Buccochromis lepturas
Dimidiochromis strigatus (8.5" beauty)
Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus
Protomelas ornatus
Protomelas spilonotus
Tyrannachromis sp Orange spot
I also have some frontosa, large plecos and koi but those fish are not my favorites.
Furthermore, I enjoy selectively breeding and I have done that most with the genus of Aulonocara which are no means monster fish.
I hope to share and learn and to make new fish friends!
