Hi everyone. I'm new to this site but have been taking care of fish for several years. I have a 55 gallon with an 8" Oscar, a Silver Dollar, and two Plecos. I also have an above ground 1800 gallon pond I built with 2 DIY 55 gallon filters that houses 15 Koi and 10 Sarasa Comets. We moved into this house 6 months ago, this is a temporary pond until i get the in ground built. I no it is overstocked but with my filters and weekly 20% water changes my parameters have been perfect. I will post pics later of the pond and koi (it's dark out right now and I don't have a light by the pond).
I just purchased a 90 gallon plywood tank that someone had made for $75. It came with a Fluval 405, 2" of crushed coral, 2 air pumps, 2 heaters, various pieces of old dried live rock, and few other items. They put in a large round bubble acrylic viewing window. My wife calls it the washing machine, you will see why in the pic. It is a corner tank with a cabinet underneath. It was a FO saltwater tank and I am going to make it a FOWLR tank. They built it with a liner and they had an under gravel filter with two holes drilled underneath that is plumbed to a fluval 405. I'm thinking about removing the under gravel filter and replumb the two holes to a DIY overflow leading into a sump. What do you think? Should I change it or just keep the under gravel with the 405 and add the live rock?
