Just a quick hello. My name is Mark. I have been keeping fish more years than I care to mention. My last SLR camera was a Nikon FG which I havent touched in years. I am looking to buy a Nikon DSLR in the near future. Any help in that decision will be appreciated. I own a PHD Nikon Cool Pix 7900 now and am not happy with the pictures I take with it. Looking forward to learning how to make it happen. Thanks in advance for any help and I apologize in advance for any dumb questions.
Thanks
Mark

Welcome! Nice to have another Hoosier on board:)

Once again, welcome from another hoosier. The only dumb questions are the ones that aren't asked!

What does that mean?

It means that if one doesn't ask, they'll never know the answer!!

I was just asking a stupid question;)

What's that supposed to mean?

Sorry for the derail Mark, we are goofy sometimes. I based much of my camera and lens buying decisions on some of the pics and advice of others here on AP. Just looking around on the site is a good measure for how you drop the coin imo.

I am looking to buy a NIkon. Maybe a D40 or if I were to hit the lotto a D90. I have been taking pictures of coral in a tank with 2 - 400 watt, radium bulbs. The light box is something I am going to put together as soon as the lights come in. I am interested to see how this will work for me. How well do you guys like the d3000 or 5000?
