Lakeland, FL.
Hi, my name is Chris. I live sunny Central Florida, where everyday is a holiday, and every meal is a feast.

I had heard of MFK before, and all the friendly members, but I didn't have any Monsters before. Now my mother-in-law came to stay a couple of weeks, and that qualifies me for the forum :-)

Been collecting fish since I was 5 years old. I used to collect wild Guppies from creeks and streams in Puerto Rico. I'm an old man now, 56, and I still keep Guppies.

However, Angelfish are my first love in fish keeping. I used to breed Angelfish and Severums back in the late '80's to mid-'90's. Recently, someone gave me a 1 inch Green Severum and a 1 1/2 inch Gold Severum. I had not had a Severum in over ten years.

Enough, I talk too dang much.

I don't see my sig.

welcome to mfk, Nice to meet you ! You need to have 5 official posts..posts do not count in this forum ...once you have a total of 5 your good to go..

Thanks for the warm welcome folks.

Nice puppy Red Devil, like the colors. And thanks for the heads up on the five posts.

Welcome, with you living in florida, you have all kinds of fish living there wild. Caught any free plecos or oscars? I only have one big fish, but he is enough to keep my attention.

As a matter of fact, I've seen Plecos taken out of some lakes here of well over 25 inches long, and fat as heck.

And yes, we have guys at the TBAS that go on collecting trips to local lakes and canals. They catch mollies, least killies, flagfish, and bluefin killies, jewel cichlids, mayan cichlids, black acara, and plenty of mystery cichlid fry. Also, Ghost shrimp and Apple Snails.

I live about 5 miles from a lake that is replete with Oscars some about 15 inches in length. But you can get the smaller ones with a net, if you don't get caught. It's illegal to fish with a net in some lakes, so it's always best to get together with a group from the club, and believe me there are people available every weekend to go collecting. If I only had the room!

I will start a thread to tell a story about an Apple Snail I caught and brought home. Look for it tomorrow, I'll title it "Apple Snail".
