Hello everyone!

I currently have a 55 FW tank that I've had for the past 12 years. Before that I had a ten gallon tank 2 separate times in my life.

In a few years I'd like to make a bump out on my house and get a big tank, maybe 500-800 gallons and have it built into a wall with a fish room behind it.

Till then I'll be doing tons of research on equipment and such. I'm still not even sure if I want to go salt or fresh. Time will tell.

Here's a shot of my current tank.

WELCOME!!! this is an awesome site and trust me, if you look around here, in every corner and under every cabinet, you'll find everything you need to build your dream fishroom and fishtank in no time. There are plenty of experts (myself NOT included lol) that specialize in every aspect of building anything in the DIY section. goodluck!

We live in a 2 story house and the lower level is actually sunk in the ground a little. When you look outside the bottom windows you are at eye level with the ground.

We also have a deck on our second story. This deck is 10x20 and is about 4-5' in the air since it is on the second story. What I'd like to do is make a bump out from my house uner this deck because under the deck is just wasted space. I'm actually getting an estimate for this project in the next day or 2.

Where did you live on the Island? I'm from Coram but currently live in Port Jefferson Station.

Thanks for the tank compliments! My parents would only allow me to get that size tank if I got the nice stand and canopy since it was going in their living room. That was 12 years ago. They also had the same exact setup in a 30 but I'm glad I went with the bigger tank.

Now that I'm living with my wife I'd love to get a MUCH bigger tank in the future. It wouldn't be for some time so I have time to do some research.
