Hi all,
I am from the netherlands.
I keep the following animals:
Poison arrow frogs:
Dendrobates Azureus
Dendrobates Tinctorius Brazil
Dendrobates Tinctorius Pic Matecho
Dendrobates Pumilio Bastimentos
Dendrobates Pumilio Almirante
Phyllobates Terribilis 'orange'
Dendrobates Imitator 'banded form'
Dendrobates Lamasi 'highland form'
Total count of 40-70 frogs incl. juveniles.
The fish:
Betta sp. Crowntails black lace
Betta sp. HMPK royal blue
total count: 70+ incl. fry, older fish: 10
Why did i sign up? I need a cull machine. But also something really beautifull. I LOVE asian arowana's, but room is an issue here... And Pikes come near to the shape of arowana, but they are just not 'it' for me (they require too much space or have a banded form). I just want a mean looking fish similar like the head of Arowana's, who can take care for culling the betta's that are deformed and bloodlines that absolutely cannot continue further.
A shed in my garden has been rebuild and isolated and climate controlled in the past month, giving me space for my frogs (25 'show'tanks + 12 grow up/breed tanks, a fish wall and...
A 2 meter wide tank, 50cm deep, 50cm high. For a culling machine
I was thinking about keeping:
Arowana.
But they need 4 meter wide tank, which i cannot offer them. An other option for me was a channa. But also my favourites need a 4 meter tank. Im sure there are tons other fish and maybe even some who look like the fish i would adore, but i simply havent seen them and thus my question: What fish looks like Arowana's or pike but can be kept in a smaller tank?
I know... i know
But carps, bass, Piranha's just dont give me that 'wow' factor. Which is something i find mandatory when i commit myself to an animal for 10-20 years.
