Hello all.I joined a few days ago and couldn't figure out how to post a new thread so I came here.:nilly:
I have been in the fish hobby since the mid 80's and have had mostly all aggressive fish. They've always been my passion.Right now I have a 10" Red Tilapia,a 9" Oscar,a 8" Jack Dempsey and a 6.5"Texas Cichlid in a 75 gallon.I am going to go buy a 125 gallon tank after work since my monsters are beginning to grow faster each day.I also have 19 or more Convict cichlids in a 10 gallon for now in my daughters room which is a story in itself-My Mothers bf has alot of tanks and assorted fish-needless to say he has convicts who just had a ton of fry and he doesnt know what to do with them so my mom said ,"I'll bring them to John's to feed his fish"(I'm John)well,I couldnt bring myself to kill em all since I like convicts and have had them in the past....and my daughter who is 5 yrs old likes them also.So I went out to get another tank and a pet store that was going out of buisness just gave me a 10 gallon to use.(free)So now my daughter has them, which of course will grow fast and need another tank.Needless to say,all of this resparked my hobby and I am now getting another tank-looking to build another one and also getting my sisters old 45 gallon bow tank for the convicts to grow up in.In any case, here I am and hello to all.:naughty:

welcome to MFK... Sounds like your on a roll now... i like all the fish you have... the only one not familiar with is the talapia...cannot wait to see pics of them all.. did you figure out how to start a thread?.. Nice to meet you and welcome again.. :)

getting totally frustrted here-i cant upload pics into a new thread.i cant figure out how to start a new thread and i created an album but it wont let me show them or move them.i even tried to start a new group called jersey krew and it says its not valid pictures:nilly::irked:someone please help-what am i doing wrong???

:welcome:to MFK. i have 20 juvi convicts in a 10 gallon as well. i agree with you i cant use convict as feeder fish. they have to much personality. i had my bunch since they were fries. welcome again!

yeah my convicts are pretty much still fry but eating tiny pelletes now.some are too small b/c it wont fit in their mouths:eek:

crush or grind their food. try to feed them a variety of diets. i feed my cons hikari bio gold, brine shrimp, and FD krill. The most important thing is feed them at least twice a day, maybe 3 times. they grow fast, and awesome color.

just for some info-the tex is all beat up by the tilapia and the oscar smashed his face on the rock when chasing the tilapia away from the tex.for some reason the jack and the oscar protect the tex by blocking her with their own bodies but occasionally my oscar will mash the tilapia into something if it attacks the tex.I may be moving the tex to a hospital tank shortly if it keeps up.

Glad you were able to get your pics up... wow beautiful fish you have... welcome again... you can go down to the bottom of this page on the left..you will see forum jump ... you click that and it drops down a list... you should make a thread of your fish in the "South American cichlids" forum... when you can...all would love to see them and you would get advice and info there..
