I am an experienced fish-keeper ( I hope)! having kept fish for at least 35 years. I currently have two tanks.
(1) Fibre-glassed plywood tank built on outside of house, only glass visible from inside. Will describe building process on another forum with some pictures I hope. Tank is 2.8 meters by 1.2 wide by .9 meters deep and holds 2800 litres, approx 740 US gallons. It currently holds;
11 silver or bala sharks
3 ornate bichirs
2 senegal bichirs
1 clown knife
1 elephant-nose
2 sail-fin plecos
1 royal pleco
2 african leaf-fish
about 6 assorted synodontis (or similar)
6 clown loaches
several other bits and pieces, ie Sunshine pleco, some Corydoras.
Some of these are quite large but the tank is not crowded, and barring serious losses, there will be no more additions. (I must be strong!)
Bottom is small gravel, decor is a lot of driftwood.
(2) 1000 litre (260 us gal) all-glass tank in lounge;
13 Geo altifrons
3 threadfins (Acaricthys)
1 Dianema catfish
1 Goldie pleco
6 Royal Farlowellas
A couple of other twig cats.
These are all quite small and will be thinned out later when it gets a bit crowded. Decor is sand, and a lot of driftwood.
Both tanks are carefully arranged so that no machinery, pipes, heaters etc are visible. I will post photos as soon as I can work out this new-fangled technology.
