Hello all, I am new to the forums and fairly new to Monster Fish keeping. I had a tiger Oscar a few years ago but over populated the tank and it didn't make it. Now i have a little more income so I can do it the right way. I have two Oscars, one Tiger and the other Albino Tiger. I've had them for almost 4 months now in a 55 gal. They are growning like crazy, more so then the last one I had so I am going to be getting a 125 to 150 in the next month to move them into. I plan on making a wet/dry sump for it, as well as the stand. I have found a ton of helpful tips on both of these project on here. I did have one question, with the wet/dry will I need to run any other filtration with it? So far poking around here I know I will get great information and enjoy this hobby very much.Brian
you came to the right place. To address your question, having addition filtration beyond the wet/dry is up to you. Lots of folks run canister filters in addition to a sump for better mechanical but that is up to you. When you set up the sump, try and design it to accommodate for addequate biological and mechanical filtration and you won't need to run anything else. Nice job doing your homework
