Hi everyone! I found this site while searching for a cure for one of my beloved Blood Parrot cichlids, and HAD to become a member!! I have been keeping fish for approximately 4 yrs....and am now obsessed with them! So much so that I went from a small 2 gal betta tank to having 6 tanks inside and a prefabbed pond on my patio, and now tat I have found that all my tanks are overstocked (and I just thought it was my Molly tank which explodes with Mollies faster than I can give them away), I am going to have to set up my 3 back up tanks to accommodate my fish kids!
I have many different fish, but still have my beautiful betta boy, Stewart, (who now lives in a lovely planted 10 gal tank with some friends!). I also adore Boxers, and we have a spunky 4 yr old female fawn Boxer named Tali, who we recently adopted after our other girl, Abby, passed away this February. We also have 3 indoor cats, Gidget (a Tortie, momma kitty we adopted when she was pregnant), Libby Ann (her daughter, a calico) and Bubba Joe (her son, who is a gorgeous all black cat).
Tali loves to check on "her" goldfish before she goes on her walks and before she goes to bed at night. She rubs herself against the pond and makes sure they are all there while I turn out their lights (they are under the stairwell so not much natural light...hence the lighting system for their pond plants).
My cats think the tanks in our bedroom (which house our Blood Parrots, common pleco and Angels) are their personal televisions. They seem soothed by watching the big fish and though we have canopies on the tanks, they have never attempted to "go fishing" when the canopies have been left open during the hot weather.
I look forward to learning much more about my aquatic kids and how to keep them happy and healthy from those on this site.
