Hello everyone... I'm a 42 year old teacher and techie who is working on an aquaponics setup in his backyard. While I'm not really a big "fish person", I did have aquariums throughout my childhood. Most of my experience is on the plant side of things (both soil and hydro), but I plan to work with a forgiving fish species to start (perhaps blue tilapia).
Ultimately, one of my goals is to create small urban aquaponic installations that can be maintained by local community organizations (churches and others). I've long way to go between now and then, though...
If anyone is running an aquaponic system in southeastern Michigan or northwestern Ohio, I'd love to visit and chat sometime.
