Hi everybody
I am Serbian living in Thessaloniki ,Greece. I have been interesting about photography, especially about aquatic macro-photography since last year.
I have got Canon EOS 500D and standard lens 18-55. I think about buying new Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro Photo. I read some reviews about it and I'm not sure if it is suitable for aquatic-macro.
What would be your suggestions for lens?
Somebody told me it's better to buy a zoom-lens. For example 18-200. What do you think? Would it bi possible make a macro shots with zoom-lens.
And what is better,
first to invest in flash (I know nothing about flashes) and than in lens or the opposite ? ? ?

I have many similar questions but for the time it's enough.
I forgot to tell you I've got 5 aquariums mostly planted and i like aquascaping

Hello, Dusan! (Zdravo, druje! ;))
Welcome to APF! Glad too see you here!
Looking forward for the photos of your beautiful planted tanks! B-)
About the photo-equipment...I had use only that of mine since the last years... so I'm not much useful about any special recommendation about, though...

But can only say - sooner or later...you'll need the both - some special Macro lens and good External flash(better 2 or 3 of the last  ;))

:welcome:
The MP-E 65 is a great lens but of little use for taking pics of fish, it is great for much smaller things like small insects or a close up of a fish egg.
The 50, 60, or 100 canon macros all do a good job, I have the 60mm, the 100 is most popular here I think. The tamron 90 is excellent too and sigma make some good macro lens also. A flash or two makes all the difference in aquatic photos.

Cheers
Peter
