Hey guys!
Over the years I've read a lot of great threads here, so I finally decided to join up.
In the 90's I kept a handful of tanks in the 55-125g range, mostly filled with SA or African cichlids. I don't keep any monsters currently, but I love reading and talking about them.
These days I prefer to keep catfish. My pride and joy is a small fleet of 7 H. littorale, the biggest of which is ~6.5". I keep buying them progressively larger tanks even though they don't need it, they currently inhabit a 100g with a few other small fish and lots of space to run around in. It's worked out well in the end as I now have a good variety of tanks to grow out various sized critters in.
My short term goals are to breed the Hoplos and distribute the fry to LFS' so that others can enjoy them - they were such a huge pain for me to find in the first place, if they were more readily available I think people would give them a chance.
My long term goals are to keep and breed some US native catfish (and a few others) if I can manage, and try to increase appreciation for them since a lot of folks I talk to seem to ignore or shy away from them.
My super-long term goal is to (somehow) obtain multiple Neosilurus ater and take a shot at breeding them so that others in the US can potentially have easier access to the fish.
Hope to get along well with all of you!
