Southern Ohio! Yeaaaah!

Hello everyone! thanks for letting me join your group of very cool people! :headbang2

i currently have an All Glass 90 gallon with crushed coral and usj's. Its filtered by a Fluval 405 and FX5 and holds around 20 mixed Mbuna (i ordered them as a package from a cichlid breeder based in Ky--not sure if i can say their names here--some sites are picky about saying who you buy from).

I also have a 47 gal. bowfront that is currently holding one very testy bumblebee, one Kenyi and a female red empress. As you can guess, they once were part of the 90 gallon, but have become aggressive for even those guys.. so they are temporarily being kept in the bad boy (and girl) tank.

I ordered a 180 gal acrylic with wet/dry a few weeks ago, but its going to be another few weeks til i get it.. I will be trying sand for the first time in it, and rockwork.. Ill move the guys from the 90 to the 180, and the bad kids from the 47 to the 90... whew.. (just wanted to add that before i got my head ripped off for having 3 aggressive fish in just a 47 gallon).

I would post pics, but both digital cameras i have show the fish as being just blurs of color (talk about slooooow shutter speed). when i get the 180 up and running ill borrow a halfway decent camera and get some pics for you all!

When im not reading stuff on african cichlids, im at work--i provide nursing care in a lock down psych ward, so needless to say, i never have a dull day:drool:

Thanks for having me here! :tropicalf

ohio rocks

why yes, yes it does. You see all walks of life here.

lets see-- between the two tanks i have-
a large male venustus, a fem. red empress, a bumblebee, a kenyi, 2 pseud. sp (red zebra OB), 2 "blueberry" ob peacocks, 2 red zebras, 2 ps. acei, 1 sci. fryeri, one mystery fish.. possibly a female fryeri, a few demansoni's, a few lab caeru. (yellow labs),1 melanochromis auratus (albino), and a few others that i cant think of right now.. my fryeri is the alpha daddy of the tank.

oh i have one that looks like a pseudo acei but instead of the body being blue it is black.. and the tail is yellow. i have yet to i.d. it--im still new at trying to identify species and genus of any africans being a newbie

i bought all these as a package (except for the venustus, kenyi and bumblebee and empress) from a breeder in KY--he sells assorted packages of mixed mbuna (and other fish) and also sells africans individually. they are all colorful, and once i get my 180 set up ill but another group from him again.

someday when im bored ill compile a list of exactly what fish i have--esp. when i get my big tank set up..

welcome!
