Just found this forum and it sounds just the site I need. People with experence of taking photos in aquaria.

I have a 600Uk gall marine reef system and no matter how hard I try I just can't get great shots (I'm thinking of giving up photography after seeing some of the pictures here.) So please don't get upset when/if I ask the stupid question.

My 35mm camera is a Nikon and I have a Cannon S50 digital as an underwater camera (I scuba dive).

Regards

Haydn- yes that my name and the correct spelling (its Welsh)

Hello Haydn, welcome to APF. photographing fish can really be frustrating sometimes, i know i had my share of headaches when i first started out, and even today i still get some headaches :). don't worry, we will do our best to help out. a good thing to do would be to post a photo in the "photography 101" section so that we can see where it is you could use some help.

Hi Haydn

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry about asking questions. I am a beginner too and I have got a lot to learn myself. What part of the UK are you from? My wife grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Rick

Hi Rick

I live in the midlands of England a city called Leicester but I know Edinburgh well, when i worked for a living I spent a lot of time there, its a wonderful city.

Welcome to APF Haydn. As you may have seen we have several members in the UK. A long time ago I used to visit Leicester a couple of times every year to stock up on film etc at the original Jessops store. Actually that's not quite true . . . it was in fact a very long time ago :-)

Good grief - Alan do you mean the shop near the Magazine (on the corner) if so that closed 20+ years ago :wow: I used to go in there as a young whipper-snapper :-O

Haydn

I guess so. I don't know about the Magazine but I remember it wasn't far from the cathedral. I also remember there was usually a queue from the front door past the main window and round the corner!
