Hello everyone,I was inspired to join Monsterfishkeepers because of our Senegal Bicher named "Polly". She shares a 75 gal. tank with a pair of snakeskin gouramris "Mr. and Mrs. Wimpy" .All 3 fish were added at the same time about 3 years ago. Polly was about 2 inches long when purchased but now stretches out to about 9 or 10 . Although she shows no aggression towards the gouramis she has eaten everything else we have tried adding, even a pair of medium sized angelfish (wife's fav fish) made their way onto the menu. Although there are a couple of drawbacks having her, she is by far the most interesting fish I have ever shared my home with.

Welcome. That's funny, because my senegal bichir was the reason I joined too. I just couldn't find any real information on "Dinky" until I stumbled across this site. Always great to have another poly owner on the site.

welcome to mfk........nice to meet you

Bichirs rule!!! I lost my first bichir to him jumping out of the tank...thought I was going to cry...I've since moved on, and now own a new baby albino bichir. Bichir's are a funny fish...they are almost comical in how inept they are at navigating a tank...you look at them and say "this dude is dumb...no way he's a predator", but then the lovin' starts and the lights go down...there's not another living soul around (fleetwood mac...BOOM)...they are incredible noctural predators...often sitting and waiting before snapping. They can eat to the point of gluttony and can be boss hog. Usually, when fish are added together and are similar size, the predatory fish will consider them part of the scenery and ignore them, but as they get bigger and more fish are added, they view these as meals. It happens a lot with cichlids, giant gouramis, etc. This is usually why you see people getting large groups of cichlids at once, instead of slowly adding over time...wanting them to grow up familiar. Anything he can fit in his mouth, he will eat. Circle of life. Welcome to MFK! Don't drink energy drinks.
