Hello!

my boyfriend and I recently started a 75 gal tank, freshwater, and are really enjoying it! We have platys, barbs, several different kinds of gouramis, catfish, plecos, and a couple discus. We are enjoying it so much we are considering getting a second, larger tank.

Here are the Discus :)

Hope to chat with everyone soon!

Those are very pretty discus.
How are you controlling the water quality? I only ask because Discus tend to be pretty unforgiving.

we are using RO water with a 20 gal change every week. Right now we are running at 84F, our ph is around 7.4-7.6, no ammonia, no nitrites, and around 5-10 ppm Nitrate. we test every 2 days to make sure the water is with in ok paramenters. :) we are kinda new to fish tanks of this size, so its been a learning process, that's for sure!

we feed three times a day, a mix of flakes and sinking pellets. we also will do beefheart or bloodworms once or twice a week :)

We just got the discus a week ago, and were concerned about the pigeon blood not eating. however, he has started to eat within the past couple of days - but he still hides a lot opposed to the blue diamond who doesn't hide. we are still a little concerned that he is stressed because his forehead is peppered, but now that he has started eating, I am less concerned.

oh, my boyfriend says to mention we also have live plants in the tank.

Welcome to MFK!!

Little late responding, but I'm told by a breeder that if a Discus is being shy, it's because it was used to being a larger group. He keeps all but his breeders in groups of 5 or more. And the spotting on the face is normal, it's a color pattern called peppered or something.. Lol
