Hello everyone. New member here. I don't have any "monster fish" yet, but I thought I would stop here and introduce myself first.
I currently have some Loaches, Powder Blue Dwarf Gouramis, a couple of Blood Fin Tetras, and a Texas Map Turtle hatchling. Let me tell you how I happened to find and register here on this forum.
Over this past weekend, I got a real good deal on a 100 gallon Marineland canister filter [$60 NIB]. Well, I currently only have three 29 gallon tanks, one of which I built a DIY background for. This is for my turtle.
Anyway, I'm looking in my local Home Depot for some sort of adapter to make the new canister hoses fit onto the smaller hoses that I built into the background. Well, shopping in the same aisle is this couple with kids in tow. The woman with this bright mohawk and her husband who looked like he just got done shooting a 50's movie. Both were tatted up and down both arms. My kind of people!
O.K. So, she sees the hoses in my hand and immediately recognized that I wasn't a plumber. They tell me about their collection and try to help me find the parts I needed. Unfortunately, Home Depot doesn't have them. So they invite me over to their house because they have the adapter I needed. I was only supposed to be running a quick errand and get back to my son at home. They assure me they don't live far, so I follow them home. I get no more than both feet on the ground and the gifts start coming. Free driftwood, etc.. They lead me to the basement and i'm floored. There must have been 30 tanks set up! It was exactly like a fish store down there, only better because these are rare fish! I notice a lot of them had logo stickers for this site. I ask about it and she tells me that she's the global moderator.
So, I left with all kinds of free swag and tank parts! Super nice couple there. I can't wait to go back and purchase some of the fauna!
