The original set-up (AFTER the used 45 gal that we bought sprung a leak and we had to take it back for exchange :/ ).Ive now decided to take the driftwood out, and I recently decided that I had way too much rock in the tank (I think), and thats what was causing my nitrogen level problems.Im running a small canister and a HTB filter that came with it.

2 oscars in a 55 is way overstocked. Sorry but it's true. Anyways what new fish are planning on getting? If you wanna stay with south american cichlids you could try a red devil. Or even some african cichlids with bright colors like yellows labs. How about some exodons? Maybe a res turtle if you like turtles? Wow I'm obsessed with this hobby.

If I were you I would get some exodons. You need at least a school of 10 so they don't kill eachother. They are very active and are like mini piranhas. They can even kill piranhas if you have a large enough school. They are also sold as bucktooth tetras.

Ok...Still having lots of trouble posting pics here, but got an important question. Ive changed my whole tank (TRY to post pics later). Well in between all the commotion, one of my Oscars hurt himself acting like a spaz. I believe he sustained a swim bladder injury. He just keeps floating to the one side. I cant believe, I swear, his buddy has stuck by his side the whole time chasing off everything else. Now, Is this a BAD injury? Ive read a lot recover, but not all. I tried the peas trick but I cant get him to eat em. Read about the Epsom trick, does it work? Any help would be greatly appreciated...TY

hello and welcome. swim bladder stuff sucks. I had a green terror that had a swim bladder problem and i used the Epsom salt treatment. he did come around but was never the same. Oscars are tough so that's in your favor. Good luck
